Citizens Uniting to Protect a Natural Treasure in South Florida.

Established in 1982 | The First National Wildlife Refuge "Friends" Organization in the U.S.

As a member of the Friends of the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge ...

You'll join like-minded people who believe in environmental and wildlife conservation, and who treasure the natural heritage of the Everglades. Meet us at the Refuge, online on our social media sites, and at membership events, including the Annual Meeting held every January. Your membership supports the Friends in engaging the general public and visitors to the Refuge, raising awareness of the importance of preserving the Northern Everglades ecosystem.

The Friends support the Refuge through these ongoing commitments:

  • Funding Visitor Center upgrades and exhibit maintenance;
  • Funding paid internship to assist the USFW Education and Biology staff;
  • Education initiatives for all ages, particularly children who will care for the future of the Refuge and the planet;
  • Presenting Everglades Days;
  • Fundraising for capital improvements at public recreation areas;
  • Communicating through our website, e-mail newsletters, social media, and annual calendar

As a Friends member, you’ll receive:

  • Annual membership card
  • 10% discount on all purchases in our Nature Store in the Visitor Center
  • A subscription to our digital newsletter and communications
  • Invitations to member-only events
  • Voting privileges at the annual Friends membership meeting.

You will be supporting a special place, contributing to the protection of more than 145,000 acres of critical natural wildlife habitat in South Florida.
