How do you select 300 + bird species for an ID guide - and photographs them all including rare and elusive ones, in just two years? Despite warning that it couldn't be done, Kirsten illustrated Birds of Florida with over 450 of her own photos, covering 310 species in their commonly observed Florida plumages. Join her to explore Florida's remarkable bird diversity, top birding hotspots and key insights in to bird photography.

Join renowned wildlife photographer and author Kirsten Hines for a wildlife photography workshop at the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. Meet Kirsten at the Refuge at 6:30 am at the Marsh Trail Head for a three-hour photo shoot followed by a two-hour processing workshop in the Refuge Visitor Center. Bring your camera and laptop for maximum enjoyment and benefit from the workshop. Plan to complete the day by joining us at the West Boynton Branch Library (also known as the Canyon Branch), 9451 Jog Rd, Boynton Beach Fl 33437, at 12:30 for her free talk as part of the Friends of Loxahatchee Speakers Series. 2026 Friends of Loxahatchee Annual Membership Meeting

Join us the Annual Meeting of the Friends of Loxahatchee. There will be a short business meeting followed by a program overviewing the National Wildlife Refuge System and the role of Friends groups like ours.
Featured speaker: Friends Vice President Daniel DeLisi. Dan will speak on significant events and organizations in the history of the Everglades Restoration. Dan is a certified land use planner, circuit civil mediator and lobbyist with over 20 years of experience in zoning, land development regulations and water/environmental policy. He is currently the President of DeLisi, Inc., a consulting firm with both public and private sector clients specializing in finding creative solutions to implement complex land development and environmental restoration projects. See Dan’s full bio for more on his background and expertise in the field of land and water use policy.

Everglades Day is a free event at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. Check out hands on activities from over 40 partners which include kayaking, archery, nature art, Everglades obstacle course, tram tours, guided hikes, FL history and nature speakers, and so much more! Activities for every member of the family and age range! Food trucks and beautiful nature views await you!
