The mission of the Friends is to promote a better understanding and appreciation of the natural history and environment of South Florida, the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge and the entire Everglades system. Members and volunteers of the Friends provide environmental education and public outreach.

The Friends publish a biannual newsletter Gator Tales and a monthly email newsletter. We also raise funds to help support Refuge programs and projects by running the Gift Shop in our Visitor Center and through other fundraising activities.
